About the Fellowship
The Glyn White Research Fellowship was founded in 1989 in memory of the late J Glyn White, CBE, Fellow ad eundem FRACOG, a specialist in neonatal paediatrics. The Fellowship is financed with monies from the William Angliss Charitable Trust.
Conditions of Award
The purpose of the Glyn White Research Fellowship is to promote research in perinatal medicine.
Eligibility
The Fellowship is open to graduates in medicine or science, who preferably have had some involvement in medical research in Australia and/or overseas. The applicant must be an Australian citizen. The Fellowship is tenable only in Victoria and only at approved teaching hospitals. The Fellowship may not be used for any activity involved in or associated with embryonic research.
Tenure
The Fellowship is for a period of two years, conditional on a satisfactory progress report six months into the Scholarship.
Application
Applications are to be submitted using the RANZCOG Research Foundation Application Form, together with other information as specified on that form. Applicants and their Supervisor must provide written assurance that resources will be available to ensure completion of the research.
In years where the Scholarship is advertised, the deadline for receipt of applications is 30 June. Applications are assessed by the Grants & Scholarships Committee of the RANZCOG Research Foundation.
Administration of the Scholarship
The Scholarship is to be undertaken in a hospital, university department or research institute. Time spent undertaking the Research Fellowship may be recognised for part of the pre-Fellowship training for the FRANZCOG.
Stipend and Allowances
The annual stipend is $30,000. The total value over two years is $60,000.
Report on the Scholarship
A progress report is to be prepared six months into the project, including the research supervisor's assessment of the fellowship holder's work. This progress report will be assessed by the Grants & Scholarships Committee of the RANZCOG Research Foundation prior to confirmation of the second year of the Fellowship.
Following completion of the project, a full report is to be submitted to the Research Foundation by 31 January in the year following completion of the research. This report will be reviewed by the Board of Directors.
The RANZCOG Research Foundation is to be acknowledged in any publication or thesis resulting from work undertaken during the tenure of the Fellowship by stating that the author was the recipient of the Glyn White Research Fellowship for a particular period. A copy of any published article arising from research carried out under the Glyn White Research Fellowship is to be submitted to the RANZCOG Research Foundation when available.
Article for O&G Magazine
This should be a lay overview of the project (200 words) stating why the project is an important area for study, what the project set out to achieve etc. It will be due 31 January in the year following completion of the project. The article will be published in the RANZCOG O&G Magazine and may be used for other promotional uses by the Foundation.
